Lifestyle Changes to Getting Rid of Backpain
1. Quit smoking or tobacco completely.
2. Make sure that you are sleeping with your back aligned straight against the ground. Sleeping with a soft mattress doesn't do good to provide support to the spine.
3. While sitting at your home or workplace use an ergonomic chair, where your back makes complete contact with the chair. Use a pillow to support your back.
4. Avoid sitting in a cramped position. Also, ensure that you are not sitting in one place for long periods.
5. Maintain a good posture at all times for spinal health.
6. Practice Yoga - bhujangasana, shalabhasana, halasana, shavasana, and alternate nostril breathing make your back strong and is beneficial.
7. Dietary Changes - Avoid consuming foods that are cold in nature that can further aggravate the vata dosha leading to worsening of the pain.
8. Avoid foods that are processed spicy, fried, & high in fats. You also need to cut down on sugar, tea, and coffee.
9. Add fibre-rich food to your diet to avoid constipation as that could worsen the strain on the back & the abdomen.
10. Taking dairy products is fine, but curd needs to be avoided.
11. Include omega-3 fatty acids in your diet, e.g. fish, nuts, seeds, etc.
